THHS students getting a jump on college

Trabuco Hills High School students are now earning college credit without leaving campus! The school’s three-year Career and Technology Education (CTE) Pathway, launched last year in partnership with Saddleback College, allows students to complete six college-level business courses right at THHS. The program’s first year saw over 175 students enroll, prompting expansion to nine total course sections this year. Students progress from Introduction to Business and Social Media Marketing to E-Commerce and ultimately Entrepreneurship—all while building their college transcripts. This innovative dual enrollment program gives local students a head start on higher education and prepares them for tomorrow’s business world.

NEWS BITS
Keeping our winter air clean
Now that we’re entering fireplace season, Mission Viejo residents should be aware of the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s “Check Before You Burn” program. On no-burn days, all wood burning—including fireplaces, fire pits and wood-fired smokers—is prohibited both indoors and outdoors. “No-burn days are needed to protect public health when fine particle pollution levels are expected to be high anywhere in the South Coast Air Basin,” the AQMD said. The Check Before You Burn program runs from November through February, when particulate levels in our air are typically at their highest. Two no-burn day alerts were already issued last week. Mission Viejo Foundation Continues NFL Player's Legacy of Giving
Konrad Reuland graduated from Mission Viejo High School and went on to play football for both the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens. In December 2016, he suffered a brain aneurysm and passed away at age 29. Created in his honor, the Konrad Reuland Memorial Foundation raises funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Donate Life, Spirit League Special Needs Sports and Mission Viejo’s Wheelchair Tennis programs. The Foundation is now seeking sponsorships for the 6th Annual Konrad Reuland Charity Pickleball & Tennis Tournaments, scheduled for March 2026. In addition to monetary sponsorships, raffle and silent auction items are also sought for the kick-off dinner and auction. More info.
The man behind the name: Norman P. Murray
Ever wonder who Norman P. Murray was? Known as Mission Viejo’s founding father, he served on the original City Council and was our first mayor (1988-1990). Murray also contributed to the city’s Planning Commission and helped coordinate the 1984 Olympic cycling event. Our community and senior center bears his name in honor of his dedication to making it a reality. Located in Oso Viejo Park, the facility features grand terraces, pedestrian bridges, creek overlooks, picnic areas and easy access to the Oso Creek Trail. Murray died in 2007 at age 89, leaving behind a legacy of public service to the city he loved. More info.
