MVHS struts its stuff against Long Beach Poly

Mission Viejo High School’s varsity football team walloped Long Beach Poly on Friday night, 56-7. In what was expected to be a quarterback showdown between the Diablos’ Luke Fahey and the Jackrabbits’ Deuce Jefferson, the Diablos scored 21 points in the final 4:33 of the second quarter and never looked back. Fahey, who is committed to the No. 1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes next year, completed 22 of 24 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a score. The Diablos improved their record to 6-1 and now have a bye week before opening league play at home against San Clemente on October 17.

Mission Viejo’s spookiest street contest returns

Mission Viejo residents, it’s time to transform your home into a Halloween showcase! The fifth annual Halloween and Fall Home Decorating Contest is here, hosted by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee. Go full spooky or embrace cozy fall vibes—categories include Best Theme, Scariest, Most Creative, Best Special Effects and Pumpkin-Tastic. Winners earn bragging rights, a yard sign and a gift basket from community partners. Enter for free by October 17 at 5 PM. Artists wanted to teach at the Potocki

The Potocki Center for the Arts is one of our hidden gems in Mission Viejo. Tucked away behind the World Cup Soccer Field, this full-time art center opened on January 20, 2018, and has been offering classes and workshops ever since. Professional artists lead all classes, providing students with the best learning experience possible. The Potocki is always looking for dedicated, contract instructors who can lead a class, workshop or camp in the visual and performing arts. The art of the fold

Chinese dumpling houses seem to be springing up all over town, and one of the newest, Seven Folding Dumpling House, which opened in August, is aiming to be one of the best. The clean, modern restaurant specializes in authentic Asian comfort food, including hand-crafted soup dumplings, dim sum and noodles. You can watch chefs meticulously stuff and fold the dumplings through a large window; most dumplings have 7-10 folds, but soup dumplings (xiao long bao) can have up to 18.
